There are a number of options for parking around the Nature Reserve and these are summarised below. Most are in recognised car parks but some roadside locations can be used. Please ensure that you do not block passing places on single track roads and avoid parking in gateways into fields. The Nature Reserve FBLNR Map highlights the main car parks.
- Findhorn Village. A certain amount of on-street parking is available in the village although this becomes very busy at times and you may need to use the beach car park.
- Findhorn beach car park. This is accessed by driving through the village and provides ample parking for visitors to the beach, village and the marina area.
- East Dunes car park. This is accessed by turning right onto Dunes Road as you enter the village. Ample parking by the beach with easy access to the dunes area and viewing Burghead Bay.
- Bird Hide car park. This is situated on the left of the road just before you enter the village and just after passing the 40mph sign. Ample parking with viewing and access to eastern area of Findhorn Bay.
- There is a small parking area just north of Kinloss village on the left hand side of the road to Findhorn. Gives access to SE of Findhorn Bay
- The minor road running along the southern end of the Bay provides a few roadside parking places with views of the Mosset Burn and southern shore. Warning: the saltmarsh in this area has many hidden holes and channels and walking on it can be very hazardous and is not advised.
- There is limited roadside parking at Netherton Cottages (NJ037614) and a couple of places available at the end of the access track to the Bay, but the track is deeply rutted. Gives good access to southern shore of Findhorn Bay.
- Car park on corner of minor road in SW corner of the Bay (NJ027608) gives access to fisherman’s path along the River Findhorn to the Bay. Note limited headroom on entrance to car park (about 2m).
- Direct access to the western shore is difficult. The track to Binsness House beyond Wellside Farm is a private road and this should only be used with the landowners permission. There are gates on this private track which may be locked.
- The Forestry Commission Scotland car park at Welhill in Culbin Forest (NH997614). There are way-marked trails through Culbin Forest to the west shore of the Nature Reserve. Forestry Commission maps of Culbin Forest are usually available at the car park. Please note that parking charges apply.
