For those living outwith a 20 mile radius of Forres.
The wildfowling season extends from 1 September to 20 February. Visitor and locals shooting is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursday and Fridays; Saturday shooting is for local residents, Sunday shooting is not allowed in Scotland and Monday is a non-shooting day.
Visitor permits, up to five visitor wildfowlers per day, are available in up to 3 day periods. Visitor permits are free in this trial year; in future years there will be a charge per day. Applications for permits are considered by the wildfowling sub-committee and fitted into available dates where possible. Permits will be sent by email; all wildfowlers are to carry their permit with them, either as a hard copy or on a smartphone, when on the Bay so that they are available for wardens to inspect if required.
Each applicant must make his/her own application online using the form below.
Applications should be received at least 7 days before the date on which the permit is valid. Applications in person or by telephone will not be considered. Applicants are reminded that they require Third Party Insurance with a minimum cover of £10,000,000. You must have a current valid shotgun certificate whilst you are wildfowling on the reserve.
Wildfowling is permitted only on the wildfowling areas of Findhorn Bay – see wildfowling map and guidance – between the hours of one hour before sunrise and 10am and between 2 hours before sunset and one hour after.
For more details, see conditions relating to wildfowling in Findhorn Bay, including seasons, days, areas, bag returns, etc. Please follow the BASC Wildfowling Code of Practice; these can be found by clicking here.
