When to see

A few Teal can be seen on the Bay at most times of the year, but the largest influx will occur in early autumn with numbers rising to several hundred. Through the winter around 100-200 will be seen until they depart around April.

Where to see

Although they can sometimes be seen out in the open on the Bay beside the river channels, Teal tend to prefer more sheltered spots. The Mosset channel as it flows into the bay is a good location to see them. Likewise, some of the channels formed by the River Findhorn in the south-western part of the Bay is also a good habitat for them, but it is less easy to see them here due to the difficulty in access.

Return to bird life.
